Status Bar Messages

Uncle Jims JavaScripts / JavaScript Non-Scrolling Messages

I prefer this less ostentatious message display over the scrolling messages. First, this method does not result in a "memory crash" if the display is left on screen indefinitely. Second, it requires a user action to activate the display. Third, (and probably best of all) the damn thing doesn't move! To see how it works, simply put your cursor over (but don't "click") on any of the links or images on this page and watch the status line at the bottom of your screen. For example, JAVASCRIPT HOME displays the "traditional appearance" destination link with the addition of a promotional message, while JAVASCRIPT EXAMPLES is an example of a double sales message.
